it’s amazing how many opportunities there are in a day to promote yourself and others. what often takes a conversation to the next level is your mastery of small talk. i’m not referring to shallow tidbits here. i’m talking about nuggets that beg further questioning, explanations, etc. an article from careerbuilder at cnn recommends you start with an item of note from the last three months, or perhaps something just ahead. show that you’re vibrant in the now and people will want to pull back to view the bigger picture. don’t flatten the dynamic of the conversation by starting things too broadly.
