you gotta love young professionals. spend too much time around them and you’ll find yourself dropping speeds. start talking like them out of habit and your clients will stop listening to you. omg – dude…like, no way! if you’re new to the professional world, please dial back the dialogue and spend more time listening. don’t macho posture, pretend to know what you’re doing or otherwise populate the room with your poop. there may be people present who need to collect their thoughts and who don’t want to struggle through that process to testimony about how rough your recent move was, how cool ikea is, how you’re hungover, how hard it is to meet people now that college is over, etc. this is coming from a guy at 36. you can imagine what folks in their 40s, 50s and 60s are thinking.
