when i meet with a new client, i’m curious to learn about his or her long-term planning. no matter how busy things are for you in the present, and no matter how stretched thin you may be feeling, you must carve out regular time for the long view if you’re to be successful in the most significant of ways. it starts with knowing yourself. i tend to do my best thinking after midnight. this is when my phone stops ringing and when my energy is sufficiently calmed to the point that i can really focus. it continues with wanting to influence the future. take the time you need to succeed in the present – but also make sure you stare further down the road and try to understand how what you just did or what you will do next impacts momentum and your ultimate goals. if you don’t have momentum or don’t know what your ultimate goals are, then we need to talk!
