i’ve always found it unusual that certain service providers allow 15 to 30 days for payment behind services rendered. if you provide a great service, then why hurt cashflow by waiting for payment? what does waiting communicate? there’s no urgency to take care of you. you’re not that important. your time isn’t valuable. well, you simply can’t let this continue! with the recession, many changed policies with regards to payment — and you don’t have to be a high-powered lawyer to demand what’s best for your business. my eureka moment on this came as i was standing outside a jiffy lube. i realized that it has nothing to do with how much you charge, what you do, your level of education…none of that. just provide great service with a smile and extend your hand. customers may be surprised at first, but take the time to explain that it’s fair and that you deserve the best. your clients aren’t going to say you don’t deserve the best. they deserved you, right? what’s fair is fair.
