the first thing you’ll find that’s missing in a low-dollar website investment? the details! they have a generic feel to them. there isn’t any sophistication or fun in how eyeballs are being drawn in and led around pages. there isn’t much technology being showcased or leveraged. there’s no artistry. this makes for a dull experience. so, what details make a website stand out from the intuit, go daddy and the low brow crowd? favicons — the little graphics next to your url. unique social media icons (just saw tiny flip flop and soda can illustrations with social media logos projected on them). share/save buttons that take your content, turn it portable and help folks post teasers to it elsewhere. a flash-assisted audio player. widgets of all types that populate your sidebar and footer, making your website a richer experience while keeping copy lean and mean. i could go on and on here. you get my point.
