i’ve been engaged in extensive google analysis of the luxury car industry the last few days. some of the traffic strands are very telling per how the top 10 brands are faring in the marketplace. for example, why are a number of people searching for “are jaguars good cars” — or why is there more total interest for infiniti than other brands, yet they rank just #7 in sales? i know that many in business struggle to find “accurate” measurements that justify spending on branding, touchpoints and the like. well, i point to the traffic being measured by google each day. the data is highly indicative of consumer impulses. most type just a few words into that search box. that means there is clarity in purpose. where there is clarity, you can bet there is weight. so…how is your brand being perceived? do you even know what consumers are searching for in your industry? if no, then don’t you think that’s a problem to address? if neglect is your cup of tea, then please continue exactly what you’re doing.
