a new study shows that a majority of ceos are not engaged in social media — 64%. when you dig into the top reasons cited for why they’re not, you find the following — time is often better spent with customers and employees, the return on investment has not yet been proven, legal counsel tends to caution against it, and anything that smacks of ‘celebrity CEO’ is a no-win. i find this disappointing. after all, marketing always works best with a champion — and i don’t want a gecko for mine! people buy from people they like. when i go to buy a product, i absolutely want to know what the company stands for in a big picture kind of way. what better way for this channel to be opened then through the leader of the company. peel back the onion. show some personality. connect. you’re paid to lead — so LEAD! check the cnet article “most ceos not tapping into social media” for more.
