we’ve all felt the uncertainty of rolling something out that isn’t perfect. the thought is to hold on just a little bit longer while a few details are adjusted. maybe you think the timing isn’t quite ideal. next thing you know, weeks and months have passed. here’s the nudge that many business owners need to hear — put your ideas into practice sooner than later and learn what you can from consumers. your competitors are not waiting for you. there’s a way to introduce measures to the market in a way that lets people know you want feedback. people like being engaged in the final solution.
think on your fears for a moment. your assumption is that people will reject something that is less than perfect. where is it etched that consumers desire perfection? i would argue that most do not. consumers mostly want to see that you’re committed to serving them. how better to do that than by soliciting feedback? over time, the perfection you seek will naturally begin to occur. you will learn things from the market. you will see spikes in your response and revenue, and you will feel momentum being gained. still not sure that you will reach what can accurately be called perfection. that is rarified air. some say it’s impossible.
my advice? put what you have into practice. measure imperfect results. grow from what consumers teach you. cover your investments sooner.
