facebook? oh, i don’t have time for THAT. some day we won’t even need to hold conversations with others! let’s get real here. if it’s so lame and de-sensitizing then why are 600 million people using it? facebook allows you to prioritize interactions with friends, while letting you have easy access to all of them. it was designed for busy and bored people alike! it’s all in how you choose to leverage it. the reality is that without something like facebook, people simplify their communications to just a few regular contacts. it’s hunker down and defend the island time. the problem is that your life flattens out. you’re less aware, less connected and eventually less interested in the outside world. people who value conversation, networks and staying in touch recognize facebook for how much it can enable the big picture, and within the busiest of schedules.
look — facebook wasn’t designed to replace conversation. no need to go old school and macho posture here. it’s just a tool to stay in front of your entire network and the community each week. if you don’t have a network or community, then it’s time to start connecting more. come out of your shell and enrich your life. become more exposed to new people and ideas. you’d be amazed at what a difference it can make — where used productively. connect with old and new friends, get exposed to how to tips, stumble upon opportunities to get out and do different things, etc. all are waiting for you on facebook. personally, i’ve gleaned a ton of value from it since i first embraced it. the amount of business i attract on the channel is reason enough for me!
